I am currently working on my Master's Thesis, but I procrastinate by reading all the books I can! In the meantime, I have a good job with fun people.

Angel Light

Angel Light
By Andrew M Greeley

Wow, obsessed with sex much? Bizarre liberties taken with scripture, for no reason (ie- Lucifer's role here). I liked Meg. Sara and Toby were amusing. The ending was rushed. Sara's major problem was pretty much glossed over, which cheapened the seriousness of it. The villians were ridiculous, out of a bad 40's B-movie.

What's a Christian to do with Harry Potter?

What's a Christian to do with Harry Potter?
By Connie Neal
202p

Despite the fact that I knew where her "let's look at all sides and let you make your own decision" was going to lead by the end of the first chapter, it was still and interesting... discussion.

Bizarre but beautifully written. I like knowing the ending and every detail, but for Eco's novels I make exceptions!

Darcy's Story

Darcy's Story
By Janet Aylmer
9780061148705 277p

Good, solid book. I liked it more once the author explained why she used a different tone of voice, not light like the Elizabeth Bennett view of Pride and Prejudice. Darcy was of course more formal. And yes, people don't change all that much, so I'm glad he was the same at the end, just more open about his good qualities.

Stones into Schools

Stones into Schools
By Greg Mortenson
9780143144960 ~16 hours (book on CD)

Amazing. Didn't like the narration as much, I think just because of it being basically a first person book by a man, read by a woman. So I couldn't lose myself in the narrative as much as I did for Three Cups of Tea. And this book was more about the logistics of planning and building, not as many personal stories as the first book. Still a wonderful book, of course! It's amazing the work they've done in that part of the world.

The Grass is Always Greener

Eh. I live in the surbubs, so I understood all the jokes. They were amusing I suppose. Not hysterical though.

The Mermaid Chair

The Mermaid Chair
By Sue Monk Kidd
0143036696 332p

If you liked 'Bridge Over Madison County', you'll love this one. However, I despised that book. I'm so tired of stories of women getting tired of their (always long term) husbands, going off to 'find herself' or confront some mystery past, only to fall 'in love' (at least be honest and call it lust) and sleep with a stranger. Seriously, grow up and talk to your husband. And 'finding yourself' involves yourself, now falling into bed with the first guy who looks at you. Childish adults piss me off.

Valley of Silence

Valley of Silence
By Nora Roberts

3rd in trilogy. My favorite of the 3, for a few reasons- Gaell, Cian, dragons, the end of the story, discovering who the old man telling the story was.

Dance of the Gods

Dance of the Gods
By Nora Roberts
0515141666 316p

2nd in trilogy. So much beating people up, geez. They're constantly beaten to a pulp and put back together with magic! Cian is still my favorite, so I think the next book will be my favorite.

Women of Courage

Women of Courage
By Katherine Martin
1577310934 362p

A few good stories, but many more that I disliked. For example, courageous for going through with an abortion because your child might have Down Syndrome? What about all the women who have the child- they're the heroes. Very liberal.
