I couldn't find anything to do. I wandered around my office for a few minutes, then poked my head out. Donna was nowhere to be seen. I was confused for a moment, then remembered I had sent her to the Hill.

So I was officially bored. Then it was like a light bulb came on and I knew where I could go for some entertainment.

"Hey."

She didn't even look up. "Go away, Josh."

"But I'm bored."

She sighed. "Maybe you shouldn't make it too obvious that you don't have anything to do."

"CJ." I'll admit it, I nearly whined that one. But she wouldn't look up, and it was driving me crazy.

"What do you want?"

"Do you have anything to eat?"

"I have beer."

"That's not..." I considered for a moment. "Yeah, okay. That'll work." I went to get one.

"Don't drink it all, I don't want Donna yelling at me when you're passed out on your desk."

"Got any crackers or anything?"

CJ shook her head.

"No goldfish?"

Finally, I had her attention. Her head flew up and she narrowed her eyes at me.

I tried my hardest to be nonchalant. But I knew I was failing and being... chalent. "Wow, that's a nice fish."

"Shut up."

"What?"

She took her glasses off then, finally surrendering. "You came in here to talk about Gail?"

"You named it Gail?"

"The guy at the pet store named it Gail."

I stared at her for a moment.

She relented. "Okay, maybe it was Danny. He said the guy at the pet store named her."

"How do you know it's a her?"

That stopped her. "I... umm... Danny told me?"

"Did he look?"

She glanced at the bowl. So did I.

"Well?"

"It's a girl. If it's not... well, I don't want any male in here while I'm changing for State Dinners."

I grinned at her. "I think there's one guy you'd--"

"Out!" She cut me off before I could even finish teasing her.

"I heard he got a kiss."

"What?" She glanced at the door. "Who... How did you...?"

"Don't worry, no one saw." She visibly relaxed until I continued. "Danny told me."

She tensed up again. "He what?"

"He told me you kissed him."

"What? But it was, but I..." She sighed. "It was a peck on the cheek, Josh."

I tried not to show how disappointed I was. "Really?"

"Yeah. Why, what'd he tell you?"

"Just that you kissed him. Then he said that a gentleman never gives details. He had such a huge grin on his face though, I thought... well, I thought it had to be more than a peck on the cheek for a grin like that."

She blushed at that and looked down. I had to grin.

"You two would make a cute couple." I couldn't resist teasing her.

She took a deep breath and looked up at me. This was confusing, this was not her normal reaction to my teasing.

"CJ?"

"I want you to forget it." She began calmly, in a low voice. "Don't mention anything to anyone about Danny and I."

Now, I'll admit I'm slow when it comes to reading women sometimes. But this I got. I grinned. "You like Danny!"

As her eyes shot daggers at me, I realized maybe I'm not as good at reading women.

"You don't like Danny?"

And then she did the most unbelievable thing. She began to laugh at me. She laughed until she was actually crying, then she wiped her eyes. I just stood there, confused at this turn of events.

"CJ?"

"Come here." She motioned for me to come closer and I obeyed. She gave me a hug, but held me in place to whisper in my ear. "You mention me, Danny, and a kiss to anyone and I'll tell Donna about the thing with the staplers and the beds in that hotel during the campaign."

She let me go, but my body had gone cold. "You wouldn't." I knew I was a dead man if she told Donna anything. She smiled at me and I knew she would. "Fine, fine. Anything you want."

Shaking her head, she broke into giggles. "You should see you right now! I bet you'd give me your job if I asked for it right now."

I tried to laugh too, but it was tough. Thoughts of Donna intent on getting revenge flashed through my head.

"Josh! Stop freaking out, I won't tell her." She shook her head at me. "I can't believe you're so scared of Donna."

I smiled. "Let's pretend this whole conversation never happened."

"Fine with me."

We stood for a moment in silence. "Got any beer?"

"Don't drink it all, I'm going to need some later." She sat back down at her desk, obviously trying to dismiss me.

I wandered to get another beer, then sat down on her couch. "So, you got a fish?"

She giggled and I grinned. Then she started to laugh and I couldn't help joining. We were both still in hysterics when Donna came in five minutes later to tell me she was back.
