Summary: This was a challenge or something: "A story about CJ adopting or 'looking for a donor'

What would Danny do or say if he found out? Would he help? What would happen? I thought a story or small series could come out of this one." I don't remember where I copied that from, but here goes...

Carol shook her head and whispered, "No."

"C'mon." Danny kept his voice as low as he could, considering how eager he was to see her. "Please let me in, I need to talk to her."

"About what?"

"Carol." Danny shook his head. "Just please-"

The door opened and he straightened quickly. CJ stood there, still reading a file. "Here, I need this typed for the briefing. Remember the spell check." She dropped a file on Carol's desk and turned, still reading the file in her hand.

Danny stared at her, wide-eyed, then followed her into the office, shushing Carol as he did. He closed the door behind him and CJ still didn't look up.

"What's wrong?" she asked, thinking it was Carol or one of her co-workers.

"I just read an interesting article." Danny told her as her head shot up.

"How'd you get in here?"

"You opened the door for me. Thanks for that, by the way. And I have to talk to you about a recent article."

CJ waved her hand at him. "Whatever. Speak." She went back to her files, missing the grin on Danny's face.

He pulled out a piece of paper and began to read. "'Ms. Cregg, however, has denied this is what she meant to convey. Instead of being interested in adoption, she has declared she wants to go a slightly more conventional route and have the baby herself. Last heard, she is searching for a donor.' Should I read the rest, I have some questions?"

CJ stared at him, standing with his notebook open and now straight-faced. "Where did you get that?" she asked quietly.

"One of the reporters in your press room wrote it."

"How'd you get it?" Danny simply cocked his eyebrow. Her eyes grew wide. "That was not in the paper. Tell me that was not in the paper."

"Okay, it wasn't in the paper." Danny told her unconvincingly.

"Give it to me."

"Give you what?" CJ glared at him and he relented, passing the page to her. "Now, to my questions. Have you compiled a list of donors and, if so, who is on it? Do you have dates in mind yet to begin the treatments? How involved is the biological father going to be?"

"Danny!"

"Yeah?"

"Stop talking." CJ held the paper up. "What paper was this in, it doesn't say. It doesn't even say who wrote it."

Danny grinned at her. "Am I on the list?"

"Oh yeah, you're on my list." CJ narrowed her eyes at him.

"I think we're talking about different lists."

"Bet on it."

"You had a reporter in here to talk about that adoption story, didn't you?"

"Don't remind me. What a moron, slow news day indeed. We're off the record, by the way."

"No kidding. He told some people about it, someone in the room wrote this as a joke. But if you're looking for a donor-"

"Get out."

"What?" Danny gave her his best angelic smile.

"Wait, stay. Let me get this straight. You heard I wanted to have a baby and you came in here to offer your... services?"

"Well, I was just offering my sperm, but if you want more-"

"Out." She pointed to the door. As he headed for the door, she stopped him again, still trying to grasp what had just happened. "Wait, this story didn't get published at all, right?"

"Right."

"And it's not going to be? All copies are going to be kept here or burned?"

"Well..."

"Danny."

"I probably won't be able to track down all of them, but I bet you get a big laugh out of it if it does hit the papers."

"Danny!" He ran out the door, narrowly missing the fistful of pencils flung at him.
