Summary: Well, why not?! Why can't they have a relationship?

She groaned as she squinted at the time, then closed her eyes against the blinding sun streaming in the windows. It seemed like she'd never get a full night of sleep while this administration was in power. She struggled blindly to get out of bed before realizing she was trapped. She reached down to her stomach, where an arm was holding her protectively in place.

"Oh, crap." she turned slowly, her eyes wide open by now.

"Good morning to you too." Danny's eyes met hers, so close that she found herself getting lost in them.

CJ shook off the sense of relief she felt at finding that it was Danny in her bed. "Sorry, I... don't know what to say."

"Morning, Danny. Did you sleep well?" he teased her. "Very well, thank you, your bed is very comfortable."

CJ closed her eyes again. "We're in my bed."

"Wow, you are perceptive."

"Danny, this is... oh, bad on so many levels."

Danny shifted her even closer and her eyes flew open. Their eyes locked as they inched closer. Finally, just a hair away, CJ whispered. "No."

"Yes." Danny tightened his grip on her waist and gently touched her lips with his. She melted as he increased the pressure. Parting her lips, she drained her mind of everything except the feel of him.

Reason finally barged in on her and she reluctantly broke their kiss. She sat up, trying to control her breathing as he gave her neck way too much attention. "Danny?"

"Hmm?" He asked, not bothering to stop what he was doing.

"You have to stop."

"Why?"

"Danny!" CJ managed to push him away slightly. "As nice as that is, we need to talk."

Danny grinned at her and she winced. "Nice, huh?"

"Oh, forget I said that."

"Not a chance."

"I'll never hear the end of that, will I?"

"Nope."

CJ sighed, holding back a smile. "Focus, Daniel."

"On what? There are certain areas I can be very focused on." His eyes sparkled as they slid obviously down her body and she blushed.

"Well..." CJ cleared her throat and looked everywhere but at him. "Last night, I guess. Did we... umm..."

"Yes, CJ?" He knew what she was getting at, but desperately wanted to hear her say it.

"Did we?"

"Did we what?"

"Danny! You know very well what I mean."

Danny reached a hand out and traced her lips, then moved down to her body. Eyes never leaving hers, his hand roamed the satin of her pajamas. "Feels like you're still wearing too many clothes to have done anything indecent."

CJ took a deep breath and told herself she was relieved. "So what happened?"

"I vaguely recall a bar and lots of alcohol. A cab ride back here, then it's sort of fuzzy." Danny shrugged. "Sounds like the start of a relationship to me." He moved in to kiss her, but she moved away.

"We still can't. Conflict of interest, you know that."

"But-" Danny was cut off by the phone ringing. CJ put her finger on his lips. "Don't say a word." He nodded.

"CJ Cregg." she answered, then tried to listen as Danny snaked his hand under her nightshirt and nuzzled her neck.

She swatted him away a few times, then held his hands still as she became more agitated by the conversation on the phone.

"Give me a few minutes, I'll be there." With that, she hung up the phone. "What are you doing?"

"You said no talking."

CJ bit back a grin and rolled her eyes. "You're incorrigible."

Danny shrugged. "I've been called worse."

"I have to go."

"Work?" Danny groaned. "But it's Saturday."

"Funny, Fishboy. We almost sounded like normal people right then."

"Go out with me tonight."

"No."

"Alright, stay in with me tonight."

"Danny." CJ warned him as she got up and began gathering clothes.

He was stopped from making a comment by his cell phone ringing. He picked it up and grinned at her. "Remember, no talking." She rolled her eyes as he answered, but stopped herself from distracting him as he'd distracted her.

"Okay, bye."

"Work?"

"A source, something big going on at the White House."

"That's all you know?"

"No, I know more, I'm just not telling you."

CJ stared at him sadly for a moment. "Danny?"

"Yeah?"

"This is why we can't have a relationship."

"What are you talking about?"

"If we were dating and people knew..." At his confused look, she forced herself to keep talking. "I get a call from work, then moments later you just happen to get a call from a source. People would assume I was your source, Danny."

A sad look came over his face as the words sunk in. "Crap."

"I'm sorry." she whispered.

He walked over to her silently and hugged her as a few tears escaped. He sighed as he pulled back and looked into her eyes. "Your reasoning wins this round, but I'll figure something out. I promise, I won't give up on us."

Danny gathered his clothes and went into the bathroom. CJ stared at the closed door and whispered. "Thank you."
