Abbey rushed in, almost sorry to disturb the scene in front of her. Then she clapped her hands. CJ jumped up, wide awake from years of practice with pages and calls from the White House.

"Ma'am?"

"Didn't think I'd ever walk in on you sleeping with a member of the press in the Oval."

CJ blushed and glanced at Danny, still sitting on the couch but now looking sheepishly at his shoes.

"Sorry, ma'am." CJ looked around and saw only Drew, still sleeping on the couch next to where she'd been.

"The rest of the kids are upstairs." Abbey told her. "They're helping Zoey make lunch."

"Zoey's here?" CJ smiled as Danny jumped up and asked, "You're trusting them in your kitchen?"

Abbey smiled. "Zoey's a good baby-sitter. So's Gina."

Danny still looked unconvinced.

"And Zoey has a panic button." Abbey added, a slight smile on her face as Danny nodded, obviously relieved.

"Does the President need his office back?" CJ asked.

"You know the Presidents schedule as well as I do." Abbey reminded her.

CJ nodded. "Right." She glanced at her watch. "So he'll be back in about an hour."

"Meanwhile, I hear we have to plan a wedding."

CJ smiled and glanced down. Danny caught her hand and stood next to her. "Yes, ma'am."

Abbey called, "Donna!"

Donna came into the office. "We're having the wedding tomorrow?"

CJ looked at the First Lady. "Tomorrow?"

"Not enough time to plan your bachelorette party?" Abbey teased her.

CJ smiled. "Plenty of time, ma'am."

"Am I invited?"

"Of course, ma'am." CJ assured her.

"Then we have to go soon, I have a dinner function tonight."

"You, Donna, Carol, Margaret..." CJ trailed off as Abbey finished for her, ushering them out the door.

"Debbie? Anyone else?"

CJ nodded. "Hogan? Or are we going to a bar?"

"Great idea, the First Lady in a bar. We need to go shopping, you need a wedding dress."

Danny held CJ back as Abbey crossed to talk to Debbie. "Is a day enough time for you?" he asked her.

"Mrs. Bartlet?" CJ asked, not taking her eyes off Danny. "Think someone can watch the kids for a little while. I think Danny and I need to talk."

Abbey smiled. "Of course. Dinner tonight, you two can go on a real date. For now, call Hogan."

CJ nodded and dropped Danny's hand to pull out her cell phone. She speed dialed Hogan's cell. "Hogan? What are you doing, you shouldn't have your phone on during school. Oh, study hall." CJ grabbed Danny's hand again and stepped closer. "I called because I knew you'd have it on, you never follow rules. Well, any chance you can cut school to go shopping? I need a few things." She caught Danny's eyes and smiled. "Like a wedding dress." She held the phone out so Danny, Abbey, and Donna could hear Hogan scream.

"I'll take that as a yes. We'll be there to pick you up in a little while. We'll be the ones in the motorcade." CJ hung up grinning. Then she sobered. "My briefings..."

Abbey brushed it off. "You have a deputy. If you want to announce the wedding, do it at the next briefing. Twenty minutes."

CJ nodded. "I'll do the next briefing, then we can leave. Who's coming shopping?"

"You, me, Donna, Zoey and your girls." Abbey pushed her and Danny towards the door. "Go, Donna and I will figure out if you get to have a bachelorette party. Oh, Danny?"

Danny turned back. "Yes, ma'am?"

"Josh is planning your bachelor party."

Danny bit back a groan and plastered on a smile. "Great."

"Jed is helping him." Abbey assured him, eliciting a sigh of relief.

"So, the Residence for chess?" Danny smiled. "While the girls go to a bar?"

"And it's going to get really wild with the First Lady there." CJ told him.

He nodded, relieved that Abbey was so high profile that they'd probably scrap the whole idea. "Should we let Drew sleep?"

Abbey glanced back through the door to the Oval Office. "Why don't you carry him to CJ's office. CJ's staff can spoil him if he wakes up while she's not there."

Danny went to fetch him. CJ took off for her office, smiling broadly.

-----

"Miss Zoey?"

"Yes, Liam?" Zoey never stopped chopping tomatoes as she looked down at him.

"The lettuce is done." He held the bowl of mangled lettuce pieces out to her.

"That looks great," she told him, smiling as she took the bowl and added the tomatoes and other vegetables. "Why don't you go make sure the table is set correctly?"

He rushed off, intent on the new job 'Miss Zoey' had given him.

"I think he has a crush on you." Bridget told her.

Zoey smiled. "Should I tell him I have a boyfriend?"

"And break his heart?"

"Okay. I'll keep it to myself then." Zoey laughed. "He's a cutie though."

"Your boyfriend?"

"Him too."

Bridget smiled and stared into the pot on the stove, stirring the spaghetti. "Who's your boyfriend?"

"Charlie Young."

Bridget turned to look at her. "You father's assistant?"

"Yeah."

"But..." Bridget trailed off.

Zoey stared at her, an edge on her voice as she asked, "But what?"

"Well." Bridget looked down, then back at Zoey. "He works for your dad. Isn't that a..." she searched for the phrase. "... conflict of interest?"

"Somewhat." Zoey relaxed. "There are many of them around here. Of course, there are people who think I shouldn't date him."

"Because you're the bosses daughter."

"No. Because he's black."

Bridget’s head shot up and she met Zoey's eyes. "That's stupid."

Zoey shrugged. "I know. But I still have to be careful where I go and what I do."

"Why?"

"Because of who my family is." Zoey sighed. "I hate it at times, but I'm held to a higher... moral standard than other people."

"So you can't, let's say, go drinking at a bar with a fake ID?" Bridget asked.

Zoey smiled. "Nope, it looks bad for my dad."

Bridget drained the macaroni and added the cheese, thinking about this. "I guess you heard."

Zoey hid her laugh. "There are no secrets in the West Wing, my mom has made sure of that."

"I heard that." Abbey told them as she walked into the kitchen.

Zoey rolled her eyes. "Of course you did."

"Lunch almost ready?"

"Salad's done, mac and cheese is done, garlic bread. All we need is the bodies."

"They're all in the dining room, patiently waiting."

Bridget laughed. "I'll bet."

Abbey grinned at her. "Why don't we get the food to the hungry masses?"

They grabbed trays with the food and brought it out. Zoey went back to the kitchen for more juice and Abbey followed her.

"Thanks for this, Zoey."

Zoey smiled. "They're such good kids. And anything to help CJ."

Abbey kissed her daughter on the cheek. "How did I get so lucky? C'mon, let's make them leave some for Andrew. I bet he'll be hungry when he wakes up."

"Where is he?"

"CJ's office."

-----

CJ grabbed the piles of papers off her sofa and put them on the floor. She glanced at them quickly to be sure nothing classified was in view, out of habit rather than real concern.

"What a cutie!"

CJ smiled and poked her head out of her office. "Don't talk about my fiance like that."

Carol smiled. "I meant Drew. But-" her eyes grew wide as she processed what CJ had said.

"Close your mouth, Carol. You're letting in flies." CJ ushered Danny into the office, amazed that Drew could sleep through the madness in the hallways of the West Wing. She had tried it once and learned quickly that it was nearly impossible.

Carol recovered her wits and followed them into the office. Danny put Drew carefully on the couch. CJ brushed the hair from his face and tucked the blanket around him. She turned and caught Danny staring at her. The room faded away as she returned his smile.

"Fiance?"

CJ smile grew. "Yes Carol. Busy tomorrow?"

"You need a dress!"

CJ took her eyes from Danny's. "Get Henry to cover all the briefings after this next one. I'm doing one more, then the First Lady is taking us shopping."

Carol rushed out to find Henry. Danny stepped closer to CJ, his eyes still on her face. "Hi," he whispered.

She grinned and traced his beard. "Hi."

He moved slowly closer, never losing eye contact as his mouth crept toward hers. Finally, her eyes closed in anticipation and he placed a gentle kiss on her lips. She smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck to kiss him again. They finally broke apart.

"I love you." Danny whispered in awe.

"I love you too." She reluctantly let him go. "Almost time for the briefing."

"Are you announcing..."

"I don't know. It's my private life, but it is taking place at the White House."

"If you're going to announce, give me a sign."

She smiled. "That would be nice of me, wouldn't it?"

"How about you fiddle with your goldfish pin?" He touched the pin on her jacket.

"Okay, Fishboy." She nodded in agreement. "Now go."

He turned to leave, but she grabbed his hand.

"Wait." She pulled him back to her and kissed him, her tongue dueling with his until the could no longer breathe. "Okay, you can go now."

Danny walked out, slightly dazed.

CJ glanced at Drew to be sure he was still sleeping, then left to find Carol, who had gone to spread the news.

-----

CJ took a deep breath before pushing open the press room door. She avoided Danny's eyes, knowing she'd lose her train of thought if she looked at him. She got through the news and asked for questions.

About twenty minutes later, she left the room smiling. She thought about how much she liked easy briefings, how thrilled she was when she knew more than the press.

-----

"Mommy?"

Carol glanced down to see a sleepy-eyed boy dragging a blanket.

"Hi Andrew." She left her desk and kneeled down.

"Where am I?"

Carol tried to smooth his hair back. "You're in CJ's office. Are you hungry?"

Drew shook his head and yawned. "I fell asleep in the President's room."

Carol smiled. "Uncle Danny carried you here. But he and CJ had to work so they left me here for you."

"Do you know any games?"

"Carol?"

She glanced behind her to see Toby, who looked ready to bolt. "Yeah?"

"Tell her I want to see her after the briefing."

Carol nodded as her phone rang. She grabbed it, along with a pen and paper. While she listened, Drew walked over to Toby. "Do you know any games?"

Toby looked at him, surprised. "No."

Drew grabbed Toby's hand, which clutched one of his bouncing balls. "Can I see?"

Toby glanced at it, then at Drew.

"Toby, you need to watch Andrew, I have to deal with this." Carol swept out the room.

"That's your name, Andrew?"

"Yeah. But people call me Drew."

Toby scribbled a note and taped it to CJ's door.

"Let's go, Drew. You can come see my office."

-----

CJ got to her door and pulled the note off.

"CJ-

My office.

-T"

She shrugged and made her way to Toby's office. When she reached the door, she glanced in the window before knocking. Toby and Drew were sitting side by side on the floor. Toby was bouncing a ball at the wall and catching it. Drew had his own ball, which he was rolling at the wall and catching when it came back. Between them was an open box of crackers and they seemed to be deep in conversation.

CJ knocked and opened the door. Drew grinned when he saw her.

"Hey, CJ." Toby got up quickly and brushed himself off.

"Toby. Having fun?"

He moved behind his desk and began shuffling papers. "I need you to look at some files."

"Toby." He looked up to see her smiling. "Thank you. Give the files to Carol, I need to get going." She looked down at Drew. "Did you have fun with Uncle Toby?"

Drew grinned and jumped up. "Yeah!"

"How much work do you have, Toby?"

Toby hesitated a moment, then answered. "Too much."

She nodded. "C'mon, Drew. Uncle Toby needs to get some work done."

Drew ran to Toby and help up his hands.

Toby glanced at CJ, who mouthed 'hug'. Toby knelt down and Drew threw his arms around Toby's neck.

"Thank you, Uncle Toby." He let go and ran back to CJ. "See ya later!"

CJ smiled at the dazed expression on Toby's face as she led Drew out of Toby's office and up to the Residence.

-----

"This is going to make Hogan's week." CJ looked around the limo, then back at the cars following them.

"Well, what's the good of being First Lady if you can't impress a sixteen-year-old?"

CJ smiled. "Seventeen. She's a high school senior."

Abbey nodded, knowing how important that year was to a teenage girl.

"That's the school?" Donna stared out the window.

"Nice, isn't it?" CJ stared at the building. "Hogan's a smart girl, she tested into the best private school in the area."

"Without the help of her famous aunt?" Zoey asked.

CJ grinned broadly and nodded. "She's so smart."

The motorcade pulled up to the front of the school and a Secret Service agent opened the door. CJ began to get out. Mary Margaret grabbed her hand.

"Can I come in with you?"

CJ started to say no, knowing they were on a tight schedule. Then she saw how Mary Margaret was staring at the building. She smiled. "Sure. Maybe Hogan can be our tour guide on the way out."

Mary Margaret's eyes lit up and she followed CJ out of the limo. They went inside and made their way to the office.

CJ was greeted quickly and signed Hogan out, glad she was already on her emergency forms.

Hogan bounced through the door moments after being called down. "My class can see the motorcade from our classroom!"

One of the women smiled at her. "Miss Hogan looks awfully excited for a doctor's appointment."

CJ opened her mouth, but Hogan just laughed and dragged her aunt into the hallway.

As the door closed behind them, CJ turned to Hogan. "Doctor's appointment?"

"It's the only way to get out without it counting as a cut."

"You lied to them?"

"No." Hogan protested. "I came down and tried to tell them, but they interrupted and came up with the doctor thing." She looked at the closed door and smiled. "Miss Gertie doesn't want me to get into trouble."

CJ nodded and dropped it. "Hogan, this is Mary Marg-"

"Oh!" Hogan gave the girl a quick hug. "Great to meet you. Aunt CJ told me about you and I couldn't wait to meet you!"

"Mary Margaret might want to come here in the fall." CJ told Hogan. Mary Margaret stared at her, stunned. CJ laughed. "I may not know much about parenting, but I know a look of yearning when I see it."

"Let's go." Hogan grabbed Mary Margaret's arm and dragged her along, pointing out parts of the school as they passed. CJ trailed along with a smile. As they reached the door, she heard Hogan tell the girl, "Mary Margaret's a big name. Wouldn't you rather be called... how about Margie?"

"Hogan!" CJ's eyes grew wide.

Mary Margaret held her hand up. "It's okay. Margie is a nice name."

"And Mary Margaret makes you sound like you're as old as... well, Aunt CJ."

"Hogan!" CJ rolled her eyes as the girls giggled. She sighed. "Get in the car, this senior citizen needs a wedding dress."

The Secret Service agent opened the door for them. Hogan grinned at CJ. "You're not wearing white, right?"

CJ gaped at her as Hogan slipped into the limo. She ushered Mary Margaret in, then sighed and climbed in. Abbey and Donna were both struggling not to laugh.

Hogan looked around the car. "Oh! Mrs. Bartlet, it's so nice to see you."

Abbey smiled at her. "We've met, right?"

Hogan nodded enthusiastically. "It was a few years ago, ma'am."

"Well, today is CJ's day. So we're not going to pick on her."

"Thank you, ma'am." CJ smiled.

"Much." Abbey added and Hogan grinned.

CJ sighed. "I don't care."

"Of course you don't." Abbey smiled at her.

"You're in love." Bridget fluttered her eyelashes.

CJ blushed. She turned to the five girls, Mary Margaret, Bridget, Theresa, Eileen and Hogan, huddled together whispering. "You girls all need new dresses. What color?"

"Blue." Mary Margaret said quickly.

"Red." Hogan grinned.

"Purple." Bridget and Eileen said at the same time, then linked pinkies and said, "Jinx!"

"Theresa?" CJ looked at her. "What about you?"

"I don't know. Maybe green."

"Green would look great with your hair." Zoey reached over and touched the red waves. Theresa smiled shyly.

"Green it is." Abbey decided. "And CJ, what color dress do you want?"

Hogan grinned at her and CJ pointedly ignored the girl. "Ivory, but maybe a suit, not a dress."

"Not a dress!" Donna exclaimed. "But the Rose Garden..." she trailed off.

"You can have your wedding in the Rose Garden, with a dress." Abbey consoled her. "Now we need to find you a groom."

The limo pulled to a stop outside a dress shop. Abbey looked at her watch. "We have almost three hours. I called and they closed the shop for us."

Eileen stared at her. "I want to be First Lady."

Abbey laughed. "It's not all fun and games. But it is a nice job."

Eileen nodded thoughtfully and followed her sisters out of the car.

The manager unlocked the door for them, Secret Service agents already inside. "I see my fan club beat me here." Abbey smiled at the woman.

"Yes, ma'am." The woman locked the door behind them. "What can I help you with today?"

"We have a wedding. Tomorrow." The woman's smile didn't falter. Abbey pushed CJ forward. "Miss Cregg needs a wedding... suit, and the girls need new dresses."

"I'm going to look around." Zoey told her mother. "I might get something new."

Abbey nodded. "Me too." She turned back to the woman. "But CJ is the important one. She needs all your attention, ignore me."

"Yes, ma'am."

The group fanned out to pick over the store. Abbey found Donna fingering a floor length sky blue dress.

"You'd look good in that."

Donna spun around. "Mrs. Bartlet!"

"You should get it."

"I have dresses already." Donna protested weakly.

"But Josh has seen all of those." Abbey pulled the dress down. "And look at that slit."

Donna blushed, at a loss for words.

"Go try it on." Abbey pushed the dress into Donna's arms and walked away. Donna looked at the dress for a moment before heading for the dressing rooms.

"Margie!" Hogan called. "This one's pretty."

"Margie?" Bridget looked at Zoey as Mary Margaret walked over to Hogan. She watched them examine a dress and shrugged. "Glad to see her interested in clothes for once." She turned her attention back to the deep purple dress in front of her.

"Great dress." Zoey looked up from the dresses she was looking at. "Try it on."

Bridget smiled and took another look at the old-fashioned dress. "It's not my style."

Zoey shrugged. "Try it anyway. We're here to have fun, try new things."

Bridget grabbed the dress and took off for the dressing rooms. Zoey watched her go, a small smile on her face.
